Education Administrator

I have enjoyed working with different education teams since 1996.  I am recognized as a strong team builder and leader, most recently in 2011, I was nominated by my peers and those I supervise, for a national administrator’s award.  My background in administration, managing people, the legal aspects of human resources, and leading educators to excellence is a natural fit for your team.

As Dean, Special Projects, at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) in North Carolina, I work collaboratively with college staff and internal HR staff across all core human resources functions.  I regularly conduct program development, course assessment, recruitment, hiring, managing, instructor evaluation, and personnel review.  Among my first duties at RCCC, was to write particular policies and procedures compliant with Federal and State regulations.  We then developed new materials for staff and faculty administration and professional development, including several new forms, a Handbook for Mangers, and a second Handbook for Faculty and Staff.  Parallel to this accomplishment, we began the process to completely re-vamp and modernize all of the policies and procedures that had been evolving over the past 30 years.

I have done recruitment and staffing in various roles over the last 15 years including office management, facilities, law office, and education recruiting committees.  This includes preparing job descriptions for faculty and staff, as well as, applying grading and compensation methodology for positions. I have managed salary administration, position classification and organizational development both as supervisor of the Academic Programs Department staff, as director of different grants, and for different private and government committees.  Pursuant to this, I regularly manage travel and programmatic budgets, employment contracts, and subcontracting.

As a supervisor, I worked with managers and employees on performance management, goal setting, and developmental opportunities – regularly inspiring my peers to greater achievements, enhanced performance and overall work satisfaction.  I am very knowledgeable with education benefit services, employee performance and development and have trained others on the appropriate procedures.  I always seek to ensure that both long-time and new-hire employees are provided current information on benefits programs, requirements, and performance incentives.

Developing global studies programs, managing the College Tech Prep grant, enabling Workforce Development opportunities, and being an upper-level administrator at a college of 22,000 students with over 1,000 employees requires my working with state authorities, the school boards of three different school systems, and community groups.   My role as Dean, Special Projects requires my interaction and representation of the Academic Programs Office with the Department of Continuing Education, Finance Office, the Department of Human Resources, and other departments.  This Dean, Special Projects position is a replacement position for the duties of the previous Associate, Vice President.  Matching and aligning the requirements of different departments, government entities, and development institutes comes natural to me.

As Dean, I helped developed, among other grants, a $1.8 million Title III grant to establish an advising center for guidance, training, and quality assurance for our college professors and students.  I also wrote and managed the Kannapolis City Schools, Cabarrus County Schools, and RCCC College Tech Prep grant, for $300,000 to enable joint programs between our secondary and post-secondary programs.  I regularly receive offers for grant partnerships from like-minded schools and universities from so many different countries, and my experience in partnering, leading, writing and managing these opportunities will be of benefit to your team.

My legal background is particularly beneficial in the human resources area, and has always proven useful for organizations that I work for to help ensure compliance with government standards, resolution and mediation of disputes.  I have experience drafting university and corporate policy and procedures and the ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, policy and procedure manuals and write complex reports and correspondence.  I also lead the effort to coach managers and employees on issues, providing sound guidance that ensures compliance with all Federal and State employment laws.  For 10 years at Anolik Law Offices, I worked with all manner of labor, equity and compliance cases, and also, advising on website requirements, site usage, and contract standards.   As I am known as a “technologist”, I am regularly appointed as a leader in our efforts to streamline processes, update computer technology applications, and leverage automation.  I am very adept at giving multi-media presentations, and I am regularly invited as guest speaker all over the world.

As many school systems are developing their international and global studies programs, my expertise in this area can help development for your institute.  My background as Vice President of the International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates (IFTTA) - an organization of travel law professors and government officials from more than 45 countries; and serving as Community College President of UNC World View; along with other global studies organizations for different educational systems, has given me much experience promoting student and faculty exchanges.  In these roles, I regularly provide assessment, direction, training, and quality control for our programs.  I also regularly work with various government agencies, embassies, consulates, and chambers of commerce through global projects.  I feel that the greatest part of international education is connecting with others across borders and being able to help and learn from, many different people.  I enjoy building cross-cultural bridges that are financially sustainable and educationally enriching, so I welcome the chance to bring these experiences to your institute.
